Imran Khan v Anuwat in Paris
Sheffield's Imran Khan faced Muaythai legend Anuwat in Paris on the 12th June 2008. He took the fight on two week's notice. The show was staged at the Marcel Cerdan Stadium in Levallois-Perret, Paris by Europe's leading promoter Sami Kebchi.

The Line up was stellar, packed with French and Thai stars and broadcast live on Canal+. One problem is, the French Federation do not like elbow strikes; it was not made clear until the day before the fight that elbows would not be allowed. There was talk of the fighters wearing elbow pads but the TV company did not like that idea. So Khan went into the biggest fight in his career without his favoured weapon.
Anuwat only has forward gears. He is compact and powerful and pressured Khan from the first bell. Khan proved elusive and countered with front kicks unbalancing Anuwat and on a couple of occasions took him off his feet. But the Thai powerhouse rumbled on and started to hurt Khan with straight right punches to the body Khan scored some punches of he own but never with enough power to back the Thai up. By the fourth it was one way traffic Anuwat landed more heavy body shots Khan dropped to one knee and took an eight count and survived the round. In the final round Khan chose to stand and trade with Anuwat a variety of kicks and knees were swapped. Khan was quicker and sharper but Anuwat had him outgunned in the power department and won a points victory.
Also on the card Attachai (Thailand) beat Fabio Pinca (France) on points, Johan Fauvaux (France) beat Kapapeth (Thailand) on points and Totof (France) beat Ali Abrayen (Belgium) on points.
