ISKA Champions and Coach Honoured at Sony TV BASA Awards
On the Saturday 21st February 2009 at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London ISKA National Director of Kickboxing Jagtar Johal was named the Sony British Asian Sports Awards UK Coach of the Year for 2008

The award recognised Jagtar’s services to his sport in this, his 25th year as a kickboxing instructor. Congratulations to Jagtar for winning yet another major national award that will help raise the profile of kickboxing in the UK and we press to get our sport the recognition it deserves.
ISKA Fighter of the Year and European Champion Barinder Singh also took home a prestigious award and was named as having made the Most Outstanding Sporting Achievement of 2008 by an Asian sportsman, beating a member of the UK Athletics team from the Beijing Olympics to the accolade. The award was in recognition of Barinder’s thrilling and much heralded victory over Shaun Burton in June 2008.
Sunny Hira
ISKA World Champion Sunny Hira won the most up and coming Sports personality of the Year. Hira’s coach and former ISKA World Champion Kash ‘the Flash’ Gill was also nominated for Coach of the year.
The nominees and winners were joined by a host of industry figures, national and international celebrities and leading sports icons including Cricketers Mark Ramprakash and Michael Vaughan, boxing promoters Frank Maloney and Frank Warren, Olympic gold medal winner Denise Lewis, Dragon’s Den panellist and business entrepreneur James Caan. The entertainment included live performances by Escala, Shola Ama, Mutya Buena, Soul ll Soul, Kunal Ganjawalla and Lemar.

Women’s World Championship Kickboxing
The Women’s ISKA Atom-weight World Kickboxing title under Full Contact rules was contested in Dijon, France by Maria Krivoshapkina (Russia) and Melanie Bony (France).Maria has a 10-2-0 pro record and 120-30-0 amateur record. She is WAKO amator European and world champion in freestyle kickboxing. Melanie has a 24-6-0 pro record, she is French and European champion in Savate. Read more

KRUSH 18 Takiya KO’s Crooke
KRUSH 18 staged at Korakeun Hall, Tokyo on the 3rd May by Good Loser Productions, featured an international prestige match between England’s Reece Crooke and Japanese rising star Shota Takiya. Crooke on the comeback trail was trying to fight his way into the World’s top ten, Takiya was not going to give up his spot. Read more
