ISKA English Amateur Championships 2009
ISKA UK held its English Amateur championships on the 29th march 2009; the venue was the Crystal Leisure Centre Stourbridge, West midlands. ISKA were also using this competition as a qualifier for the ISKA European Championships 2009 in Rome, Italy.
The competition was a full house both as competitors and spectators, and surely must have been the largest single one day competition of the year so far. There was a very high standard of competition, with all the disciplines being contested fiercely, you could tell a place in the England team was at stake.
All seven areas and rings were busy all day long, including the forms/kata divisions this ran to the last minute which is very rare. ISKA UK have introduced some new divisions and it seems to be working well judging by the size of the categories.
Overall the competition seemed to be a great success with people looking forward to a trip to Rome later in the year.
