ISKA Squad Training and Squad Members (Light Contact)
The third of the ISKA Light Continuous squad training sessions took place on Saturday 17th May at the Bai Lang Martial arts centre in Telford.

Although there was a drop in numbers due to important tournament commitments and also illness I must thank the majority of the missing squad members for informing me in advance of their absence.
Please remember for those of you who do not attend the squad training sessions without informing me before the day, your place is NOT safe. We have a list of reserves in some of the category’s and they will be given the opportunity to replace squad members who miss the compulsory squad training on a regular basis.
The squad training went well concentrating this time on sparring drills, ring / mat craft and strategy and also fitness with pretty much non-stop work over the two and a half hour session. Improvement in both fitness and technique was noted and I am happy to say we are still very much on track to pick up plenty of medals come the World Championships in the Czech Republic in August.
A big thank you once again to Dave and Lee Whitfield at the Bai Lang centre for their hospitality and their continued support of the ISKA team in pursuit of their World Championship success.

Please note that all slots are subject to the fighter attending squad training sessions in preparation for the World Championships. Non-attendance without prior notification to coach Neil Kelly could result in your place being offered to someone else.

The next Light Continuous team squad training session will be held on Sunday 15th June between 2-4.30pm at the Bai Lang Martial Arts Centre,Unit 28, Hortonwood 33, Telford, Shropshire TF1 7EX - 08000 436 936.
The following squad training date after that is Saturday 19th July at the same venue, so keep you diaries free on that day.
Important notice
For those who missed the deadline and have not yet got your deposits in we regret to inform you that due to increased flight costs because of now limited seating left on the plane the trips cost has increased by £60. As the seats are booked on the plane this cost will again go up so don’t delay get your money in NOW! Please send all payments to the ISKA UK office at 46 Sarehole Road, Hall Green, Birmingham B28 8DR. Cheques must be made payable to NEW ISKA UK. Please note:
- Final Payments for the trip must be in by the next squad training date of Sunday 15th June. Again anyone who will miss this deadline must contact Andrew Hennessy on the contacts above.
- We require a passport photo of both fighters and spectators making the trip to go on the ISKA World Championship pass to get in and out of the tournament arena. Anyone failing to supply this by next squad training could be subject to a surcharge to have it done in Czech Republic.
- Official ISKA UK hooded sweatshirts for both fighters and spectators can be ordered at the cost of £20 (children’s sizes) or £25 (adult sizes) and are available in both white and navy blue. To place an order for your hoodie again get in contact with Andrew using the contact details above.
All squad members must ensure to maintain the weight of you allocated slot. Anyone failing to make weight at the Czech Republic weigh in will not be guaranteed a position to fight in the next category up due to the fact that there can only be two entrees per country per category.

KRUSH 18 Takiya KO’s Crooke
KRUSH 18 staged at Korakeun Hall, Tokyo on the 3rd May by Good Loser Productions, featured an international prestige match between England’s Reece Crooke and Japanese rising star Shota Takiya. Crooke on the comeback trail was trying to fight his way into the World’s top ten, Takiya was not going to give up his spot. Read more
