ISKA UK strong position in second quarter
Despite the economic downturn, ISKA UK maintained its position as the UK’s leading Martial Arts sanctioning body, during the second quarter of 2009 ISKA sanctioned at total of 23 events, 12 in the month of May with 23 championship matches including World, Commonwealth, British and regional titles.
There are problems, lack of sponsorship being the main one, but promoters new and old are eager as ever to stage fight shows. Several domestic ISKA Champions defended their titles adding to their prestige and UK fighters have been competing aboard in France, Germany and Spain. As well as ISKA Championship events we have also lent our support to branded events including POWER OF SCOTLAND, PAIN & GLORY and RINGMASTERS.
Highlights have included Tommy McCafferty winning his second world Championship belt in a thrilling twelve round battle with French Champion Dino Perrotto. The international Muaythai matches featuring Jordan Watson and Richard Cadden at Leeds Town hall. The first full card of ISKA MMA bouts promoted by Russ Williams in Wrexham.
With over 20 events scheduled for the third quarter ISKA UK are on target to equal if not better last year’s numbers
