Lintow wins a decision against McCafferty to regain the Middleweight World title
Germany’s Jens Lintow regained the ISKA World Middleweight Kickboxing title 75kg FC by outpointing Ireland’s ISKA Light-middleweight World Champion Tommy McCafferty in Ingolstadt, Germany on the 21st March.
The contest was a twelve round technical battle, McCaffery won the early rounds keeping Lintow under pressure for the first bell. From the fifth round Lintow started to make things difficult for the young Irishman, using clever footwork and ringcraft to neutralize McCaffery’s Attacks. Lintow maintained control of the fight, McCaffery was still in the fight and dangerous but was just one step behind, both men put on a skilful display of quality kickboxing. Lintow racked up points to win a unanimous points decision. After receiving the ISKA World Championship belt the third in his career Lintow announced his retirement. McCafferty’s coach and manager Paddy Toland said I want Tommy have had another shot at the title, tonight wasn’t his night.
On the same card Germany’s Dominik Haselbeck who had vacated the ISKA World Middleweight title to move up a weight division’s challenged Austria’s ISKA European Champion Thorsten Springer for the ISKA World Super-Middleweight kickboxing title 78.1kg FC recently vacated by Frenchman Marc Apele.
Unfortunately what had the makings of another great fight ended in the third round when Haselbeck sustained a bad cut over his right eye and the Doctor stopped the contest giving a TKO victory to Springer. A rematch is sure to follow.
The ISKA European Featherweight title 58.2kg FC was also contested Germany’s Johannes Wolf faced Juan Luis Martinez Sanchez of Spain. A spectacular fight that ended is a spectacular fashion with Wolf knocking out Sanshez with a spinning hook kick to take the Championship belt.
