Marty Cox Jnr. Challenges for ISKA World Title
The former WKA Light-welterweight World Kickboxing Champion Marty Cox Jnr returns to the ring on the 15th March at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, Essex to challenge Ireland’s John Paul Soanes for the vacant ISKA World Light-Welterweight World Kickboxing title.
Marty Cox
Cox won the WKA title in 2004 when pounded out a unanimous decision against tough Canadian Melvin Murray over twelve rounds at the Roundhouse in London. Cox dominated the domestic ranks and confirmed he position as the No. 1 British Light-welterweight with the defeat of Chris Long, but after the glamour of Tim Izli’s Roundhouse show, the big pay packet and winning the World title, Cox lost his motivation to fight with no new challenges or better pay days on the horizon he choose to retire. With a resurgence of interest in his weight division due to a new generation of fighters like Barinder Singh, Shaw Burton and Andy Burton now is a good time for Cox to make a comeback, he will face Ireland’s rising star and European Champion John Paul Soanes.
Promoter Steve Kerridge has billed the show as the St. Patricks Day Brawl the other England v Ireland match will see Tracey Reno face Barbara Delaney to contest the ISKA Ladies Four Nations Featherweight title. Ollie Green (Aveley KB) will face Daniel Hughes (Swindon KB) to contest the ISKA British Cruiserweight for the second time. Two ISKA English titles will also be contested Daniel Elie (Aveley KB) will face Nigel Thomas (Storm Gym) for the Middleweight title and Richards Hines (Aveley KB) will face Mark Cullinene (ECKA) for the Lightweight title, plus a full supporting card.
