McCafferty makes second bid for the middleweight crown

World Championship Kickboxing returns to the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny, Ireland for another action-packed fight extravaganza on 30th May 2009. Topping the bill will be local hero and light-middleweight sensation, Tommy McCafferty.

The young hot-shot destroyed all opposition put in front of him to land the prestigious ISKA European and Commonwealth titles. He then challenged the Light-middleweight World Champion Fran Zuccala after a twelve round war. A match that was voted fight of the year 2008 McCafferty lifted the belt.

On the 21st March 2009 McCafferty Challenged Germany’s Jen Lintow for the ISKA World Middleweight Championship. Another hard fought twelve rounds with the veteran and multi-World Champion Lintow taking the decision as the belt was place around his waist he announced his retirement.

Now McCafferty faces his toughest test yet as he steps up to middleweight again to contest the vacant title against French Champion Dino Perrotto. The world of kickboxing will be waiting with baited breath for the outcome of this epic match between the youth, power and speed of Tommy and the experience, ring-craft and guile of Dino.

Also on the bill ISKA World Cruiserweight Champion, Derry’s own Daniel ‘Pinta’ Quigley who faces British Champion Davis Ball from Cardiff in a non-title prestige match.

Finally, a packed bill of supporting fights will feature local kickboxers from PT’s Kickboxing Gym with Derry’s new sensation Aidan Lafferty taking on Stephen Montgomery for the ISKA Irish Light-middleweight title.

    Changes to ISKA weight divisions

    ISKA have made changes to three weight division, the Super-cruiser-weight division will change from 91.8kg to 94.1kg, the Heavyweight division limit will change form 96.4kg to 101.4kg and Super-heavyweight will change to + 101.5kg. The new weight divisions already established in the USA will come in to effect in Europe on the 5th February 2012 Read more
