Russ Williams promotes the first ISKA UK sanctioned MMA event
Dragon Fighting Championships staged by Russ Williams in Wrexham, Wales on the 28th June was the first MMA card sanctioned by ISKA UK. Although ISKA UK has been sanctioning MMA bouts on Thai/kickboxing cards this card was predominately marketed as an MMA show with all the matches taking place in an octagon cage.

There were fighters from all over North Wales competing against fighters from England and Northern Ireland. It was a success for the local MMA fighters with Gavin Davies (Bushi Ryu Jujitsu) winning a point decisions over Colin Neeson (IMMA Belfast). Aaron Abi (CombatWrestling), Radek Gorny (RWMA) and Hayden Russell (Alex Gym) all won with 1st round KO’s, Radek hit Dean Rowley ( Tap or Snap) with a low kick then a kick to the head KO’ing him in just 9 seconds. Richard Cosgrove (Elite MA, Oswestry) stopped Stephen McClintock (IMMA Belfast) in the second round with a solid right hand.
The card also featured stand up fights under Oriental Rules including a title match, Sean Kennedy (Taz Gym) defeated Matt Inskip (Thomas Thai) by points decision to take the vacant ISKA Welsh light-welterweight title 64.5kg OR
The successful show attracted a sell out crowd the Liquid night club, Russ Williams would like to thank sponsors Cynergy Security, L’etage Restaurant and IZLI Sport for supporting the event, all the fighters and gyms involved and the spectators who loudly supported them. Russ will stage his second MMA event on the 8th November at the same venue.
ISKA UK has several more MMA events booked for the rest of the year and plan to have a full National circuit in operation by the end of 2010

Women’s World Championship Kickboxing
The Women’s ISKA Atom-weight World Kickboxing title under Full Contact rules was contested in Dijon, France by Maria Krivoshapkina (Russia) and Melanie Bony (France).Maria has a 10-2-0 pro record and 120-30-0 amateur record. KRUSH 18 Takiya KO’s Crooke
KRUSH 18 staged at Korakeun Hall, Tokyo on the 3rd May by Good Loser Productions, featured an international prestige match between England’s Reece Crooke and Japanese rising star Shota Takiya. Crooke on the comeback trail was trying to fight his way into the World’s top ten, Takiya was not going to give up his spot. Read more
