Alfie Lewis Seminar
Sunday 11th March saw 5 times world WAKO Champion, Master Alfie Lewis conducted a very successful seminar in front of 40 eagerly anticipating students at the Stockland Green Leisure Centre in Birmingham. The course was designed around points fighting drills, points fighting defence drills, 1-1 opportunities, weaknesses and how to turn them into strengths.
Mr Lewis, with his World Champion team including son Marcus Lewis WKC world champion put students through their paces for 3 hours. The intense of the training was the best I have witnessed probably since I last trained with Mr Lewis some years ago.
Here are some quotes from some of the people who attended the seminar.
3 times WAKO world champion, Meike Hink, who attended this seminar, said “Alfie Lewis is such an inspiration which is one of the reasons I came here. The mental attitude side of things added to the fighting edge”. “I took a lot from this course. It was so nice to see Mr Lewis coming up to all the little groups and explaining things that he thought could improve and gave good advice. I retired in 2009 but after this course it has given me such a buzz to return to fighting. I have brought a car full of students there today from Nottingham. Some representing my new school Aim High Martial Arts and we all walked away with a positive attitude.
ISKA European Champion 2011 Kyle Findley, from Peterborough said “I have been at university in Leeds. My training pattern has changed when I heard Alfie Lewis was doing a seminar. I agreed straight away to come. It was listening to his talk about how to psyche your opponent out by the littlest of things amazed me. The drills were fantastic, something I will be practising in class. The knowledge of Mr Lewis is next to none and my advice to anyone out there who is fortunate to train with him is to listen and take everything on board it could be the one and only chance you get to train with him”.
Marshall Chapman one of the parents who son train sent in this e: mail.
I would just like to say how much my son enjoyed the seminar yesterday, as a spectator I thought you did a fantastic job and really did exceed any expectations we had! To be able to train and be coached by someone like Alfie Lewis and to be able to have a sparring session and input from his lads had my son Ethan buzzing all the way home! I thought the format and the content was 1st rate and really well done!
We have got the tickets for the Jedi seminar in April if I can hold him back that long! As I am not really keyed into the martial arts circuit as it were, would you please be kind enough to let me know of any seminars or events in the future? Because it is certainly well worth the trip for us and count us in.
Kelly Boden WKC Bronze Medallists 2011 said when I heard Alfie Lewis was conducting a seminar I thought I have to go to this, I can learn so much off him because this man breeds champions.
And I can tell you I wasn’t disappointed at all! The time and effort spent perfecting each drill was great he really wanted to make sure everyone understood the physical and psychological reasons behind each drill.
Everyone in the Mushin Kai team was extremely approachable and willing to help and offer advice to anyone needing it. Much credit has to go to Marcus as well for his help he did a great job, overall a very good day!
The next ISKA Seminar will be the one and only Mr Jadi Tension on Saturday 14th April at the Doug Ellis Sports Centre Perry Bar Birmingham time 1-4pm all the way for the Bronx in New York this young man is unbelievable.
