ISKA UK Fourth Quarter activity 2008

In the last quarter of 2008 October to December ISKA UK sanctioned 22 events that included 3 World title fights, 1 European title fight and 33 British, National and regional title fights in both the amateur and pro divisions under Kickboxing and Thaiboxing Rules.

Andy Howson ISKA World Champion

The ISKA UK Board of Directors have worked hard to maintain a truly National fight circuit that sanctions events from Paisley Scotland to Penzance in Cornwall and everywhere in between. The fourth quarter witnessed some top tier shows including the Bad Company event at Leeds Town Hall that saw Andy Howson defeat Japan’s Funitaka Fujiwa to capture the Bantamweight World Muaythai Title. Trevor Spencer’s Stevenage show were Suky Shoria took the European Welterweight kickboxing title from the defending Champion Simon Akufu, another solid Kickboxing card from Steve Kerridge at the Circus Tavern. Paddy Toland’s World Championship card that featured a real contender for fight of the year between Tommy McCafferty and Fran Zuccala and then Gary O’Brien’s POWER OF SCOTLAND 5. ISKA Champions are continuing to defend their titles which is major step forward, it’s been said before but can’t be overstated you are not a true champion unless you are willing to defend your title against all comers. ISKA have also supported and sanctioned several small hall shows which are the life blood of the sport producing champions of the future.
