Joe Lewis Seminar Excel London
The day after the London International freestyle Open at Seni, former top American Kickboxer and Bruce Lee training partner JOE LEWIS is to make a special guest appearance at the weekend show. He will teach a 2 hour seminar on Sunday 30th May (Excel London) which costs £35 and includes entry into the Seni expo. To book call 02476 331239. http://www.SENI.tv
Undisputed United States heavyweight kickboxing champion, friend and student of Bruce Lee’s.
Joe Lewis studied Shorin-ryu Karate with Eizo Shimabukuro, John Korab, Chinsaku Kinjo and Seiyu Oyata in Okinawa while serving in the United States Marine Corps, earning his black belt in a mere seven months. Upon returning to the USA, he began a winning tournament career starting at Seni’s other special guest Jhoon Rhees tournament in 1966 which was Joe’s first tournament and he won it. From 1967 to 1968, he studied privately with Bruce Lee and he had Lewis test out his theories of fighting at tournaments. As Lee’s “test tube” Lewis was unbeatable, spawning the nucleus of kickboxing as we know it today. Lewis retired as undefeated United States Heavyweight Kickboxing champion in 1971. His record as the undisputed United States heavyweight kickboxing champion was a perfect 10-0 with 10 KO’s. In 1975 Joe Lewis was inducted into the Black Belt magazine Hall of Fame as the 1974 full contact karate “fighter of the year”. He also had a short but notable film career with the highly acclaimed Jaguar Lives (which is being screened at Seni2010), Force Five and Mr. X. Lewis was the original pick of Bruce Lee for the villain Colt in Way of the Dragon, but Lee and Lewis had a difference of opinion before the film and thus Chuck Norris was chosen instead. Joe has also written a book and produced a video of what Bruce Lee taught him.
Joe Lewis says “People want to know, is this how Bruce Lee actually taught privately? Only a few of us can answer that question” and that is what Joe will bring to Seni show this year. Make sure you dont miss it!
