The Lion versus the Eagle! It’s England versus America for KTMMA 1!
November 2013 saw the spectacular showcase launch of KTMMA the new Combat fightsport for the 21st Century. London played host to a truly international fight card topped by two England versus Japan superbouts. The Japanese invasion was successfully repelled with both English fighters beating their Japanese rivals but now an even greater test awaits as.....The Yanks are Coming! March 1st 2014 sees two top American fighters cross the Ocean to do battle with England’s finest as the unique KTMMA format continues to bring us unbeatable International action from the historic Porchester Hall.
Topping the bill first time round veteran Muay Thai specialist Tim ‘TNT’ Thomas beat the enigmatic Japanese knockout specialist Takashi Nakagawa with a totally dominant performance that cemented his reputation as a fighter of consistent quality. This time around Thomas faces James “whitey” Warren from Oklahoma USA, a man with only one professional defeat on his record. It is certain that Warren will not have met anyone of Thomas’ pedigree and will have to be at the top of his game to defeat the man with TNT in both his hands and feet.
Essex’s very own superstar Reece Rowell will be making his KTMMA debut in the second England versus America superbout but have no doubts, this young fighter has experience beyond his years and is building an impressive reputation with his explosive style in the ring. This could be his toughest test, however, as Cody Pfister , also from Oklahoma in the United States, is unbeaten in his last six outings and brimming with confidence. This really is the battle of the young guns and we could see an old fashioned Wild West shoot-out with this one.
The undercard is also stacked with talent, not least the returning rising K-1 star Regis “The First” Sugden. Regis shone on his KTMMA showcase debut by stopping Lithuanian Linas Meistavicious in spectacular style, a stoppage that earned him the accolade ‘fighter of the night’. This time around the 18 year old wonderkid is matched with an equally precocious talent in the form of Theo Michailidis from the respected KO Gym in London, a club widely reputed for breeding them tough and skilful. Michailidis will know of Sugden’s reputation and will want to make his own statement in emphatic style on the KTMMA Stage.
Storm Gym’s “Big Polski” Lukasz Krupadziorow will also be returning for KTMMA 2. He proved a big fan favourite on his KTMMA debut by scoring the quickest stoppage of the night, his power and mobility proving simply too much for Lithuanian Tomas Vaikus. For a big man he is light on his feet but carries real power and will prove a stern test for Dawid Zoltawesk fighting out of Prizefighters, Aldershot.
Two men from the noted Urban Kings Gym will be making highly anticipated KTMMA debuts as both have real experience in the ring and genuine pedigree. Jon Durrant is a Professional Kickboxer who has won multiple British titles, a Commonwealth title and has been World ranked by both the ISKA and WAKO pro, the 2 biggest sanctioning bodies in the World. Strong, durable and accurate, Jon always brings his ‘A’ game. His stablemate, Josh Palmer brings with him even more experience as a Pro Thai Boxer, having fought all over the world including fights in Canada, the U.S, Ireland, the UK, Russia, Australia, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Malaysia and Thailand. He holds numerous titles in the 67kg and 70kg weight divisions with wins over some top world contenders and is really looking forward to his KTMMA debut.
The KTMMA showcase was a breath of fresh air in 2013, capturing the imagination of jaded fight fans, fighters and coaches alike and this first show of 2014 has already got the fight world buzzing with its promise of another mouth-watering night of International clashes across its unique all-encompassing format. The Porchester Hall has real history but so does England versus America. The only question that remains is who will make history when the bell goes for two rounds of high-octane action? Be there on March 1st to find out!
