Fight-Stars 2 victory for Stormin Norman
‘Stormin’ Norman Parke kept his head to take the main event. Ian Jones looked red hot, circling away from his opponent’s power and confidently letting fly with a string of head kicks. Parke blocked them and bided his time. The pair clinched. Jones picked Parke up and slammed him to the canvas. The Yorkshireman looked set to press home his advantage when Norman snared him in a tight guillotine to end the fight.
Tom Howell needed Dan Hardy style grit to survive the first round of his contest with Jay Furness. Furness applied a killer kimura, but the Manvers fighter refused to give in. In the second, Howell had more success, working the body from top position. There was plenty to like about both fighters, but the judges gave Furness the nod.
Andy Willcocks defeated Paul Attwood with a side choke.
Kam Patel had a significant reach advantage over Caged Steel’s Danny Missin. The southpaw bloodied Missin’s face as he stood off and picked his shots. In the second, the pair engaged from the off. Danny landed some of his big right hands, but Kam caused more damage with his better organised work. The crowd responded as the two dug deep. Unanimous decision victory for Kam Patel.
Louis Jenkins and Robert O’Boyle set a frenetic pace in the first; exchanging punches, kicks, ground position and nut shots. At the start of the second, Louis scored with knees to the head in the clinch. The pair hit the deck and Jenkins applied a decisive rear naked choke.
Steve Hazeldine spent an age trying to finish Anthony Jeffries with a triangle, but couldn’t close the deal. In the second, Jeffries pulled guard and went for the guillotine. Hazeldine escaped and did enough work from the top to earn a unanimous decision.
Joe Cooper launched some ferocious bombs to the head of Nigel Harmshaw in a fight of two halves. Nigel’s mouthpiece flew out and his takedown attempts became more desperate as the barrage continued. It looked in the bag for Cooper, but over eagerness caused him to let fly with a few shots to the head of his grounded opponent. At the start of the second, Harmshaw finally got the takedown. He passed guard at will and went close with a series of armbar attempts. Enough for the judges hand him a unanimous decision.
Quasim Shafiq submitted Paul McGinty by way of kimura.
Uche Ihiekwe executed his gameplan perfectly in the opener. Establishing the jab to set up the right hand, he bossed the stand up against Stephen Kingsbury. Calm and collected throughout, he sprawled himself out of any danger. Uche then buckled his man with another one – two, then knocked him out with a savage knee to the head.

KRUSH 18 staged at Korakeun Hall, Tokyo on the 3rd May by Good Loser Productions, featured an international prestige match between England’s Reece Crooke and Japanese rising star Shota Takiya.
