Thrilling ISKA World Heavyweight Title Featuring Special Guest UFC Champion Jon “Bones” Jones

On the night of Friday June 1st, the undefeated Randy “Boom Boom” Blake risked his 20-0 perfect record by facing two-time ISKA World Kickboxing Champion Mike “Lightning” Sheppard for the ISKA World Heavyweight title. The stage was set at the Hard Rock Casino Resort in Tulsa, Oklahoma and well- promoted by the legendary kickboxer and Tulsa native, Dale “Apollo” Cook. By the time the main event fighters entered the ring, there wasn’t an empty seat in the house and the atmosphere in the Hard Rocks’ “The Joint” was electric. When referee, Chuck Wolfe said “FIGHT!” the action began and the crowd roared.

Sheppard had both made a career and earned two previous world titles with an overhand right that could bring down a building. He looked to be in particularly good condition and threw his vicious right behind a stiff jab early and often. Blake moved side to side, threw combinations cautiously and was certain to defend the left side of his head. As the bout progressed, so did Blake’s confidence.

Despite Sheppard’s constant aggressiveness, “Boom Boom” was able to not only “hit and run” effectively but also control the clinch with very sharp knees to the head. Even with as much as Sheppard committed to his attacks, they were consistently off-set by Blake’s slick countering. In the third round Blake started to put his punches together on the attack, combined with sharp front and side kicks delivered accurately at Sheppard’s head. But the real damage was being scored in the clinch as Blake repeatedly controlled Sheppard’s head and scored with knees. By the fourth round Sheppard looked beaten and bloodied and then was stopped in the neutral corner via TKO shortly after the start of the fifth. Winner and new Champion, Randy “Boom Boom” Blake was presented with his ISKA World Title belt, by ISKA President Cory Schafer and special guest, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Jon “Bones” Jones.
